Traci B - MOTOmed

I received my Motomed Viva 2 in December 2008!  Before that, I was driving about an hour each way to a friends house to use his.  I think the Motomed is one incredible piece of equipment for movement therapy.  Not only does it reduce my spasticity and allow me to become more flexible, it also aids in rediscovering residual muscle strength.  When my legs are spastic and my muscles are tight due to tone, I  turn my Motomed on in a passive mode.  This is where I use the power of the motor to help loosen up and relax my legs.  There is also a feature that detects any spasms I may have while riding.  I can also use the Motomed in an active mode. This allows me to peddle without the motor on.  I find that I can use several different muscles in my stomach, back, hips, and legs to help peddle forwards and backwards by my own free will.  For me it's a full body workout!  I absolutely love it!

My legs are actually warmer due to the increased circulation. They don't swell from water accumulation and my tendons and ligaments stay flexible.  It also helps with my metabolism so it's easier for me to maintain a healthy weight.  I use my Motomed everyday and sometimes twice a day.  I can get myself on and off with no assistance from a family member.  I also have the arm / upper body trainer.  My arms, shoulders, and back get quite a workout too.  I really do believe that the Motomed is one of the best pieces of rehab equipment I own!  I wish everyone with any type of neurological disorder or spine injury could own or train on this amazing machine.
