MOTOmed
Hi Laura,
I just wanted to let you know that I received my MotoMed on Wednesday. It has exceeded all of my expectations! I cannot believe how quiet it is!! I was worried it was going to be loud, but I can sit in front of the TV or read a book without it interfering at all. I honestly cannot find one single thing I do not like about it. It is of top notch quality. They really thought of everything when making this cycle. I will definitely be recommending "you and your company" to all my spinal cord injury friends!
Thank you so much for all of your help! I consider you a friend.

MOTOmed
My name is Steve Suer and I am a C4 Quadriplegic Complete. This means I have no feeling from my nipple level down in my body and very limited feeling from my wrists down.

While I was doing rehabilitation in the hospital, there was a hand bicycle used by the physical therapists that helped me retain some muscular strength in my arms, shoulders, upper back and upper chest.
Upon returning home my wife and I searched the Internet for a comparable device. After a short demonstration, by a MOTOmed sales person I quickly discovered that the MOTOmed was not only a superior hand bicycle providing a screen with feedback about performance levels but gearing which allowed you to change difficulty levels. My greatest discovery was that it also had foot pedals that could be rotated in either direction without using your muscle power.
I have now owned a MOTOmed for over six months and recommend it heartily to anyone suffering from quadriplegia or paraplegia. It might also be useful for some victims of a stroke when recommended by a physician or physical therapist.

I have tried several other bikes on the market and none compare to the Motomed. From the ease of use to the great workout I get it surpasses its competition. Since I am a C 5-6 incomplete quadriplegic I have some use of my legs so I especially like the servo cycle feature that allows me to actively cycle and build my leg strength and endurance. The display screen is very informative in both the active and passive modes and the leg symmetry display allows me to concentrate on my weaker leg. I would recommend this bike to everyone no matter what your level of injury is.
Sincerely,

MOTOmed
The Motomed unit is as far as I am concerned the best unit out there. I looked into all the alternatives and tried them, and the three things that set the Motomed apart are; Design quality - some of the other "competition" are barely useable, let alone sturdy enough.
Size - a massive consideration if you live in limited space it is beautifully compact Results - the FES component is seamlessly integrated, it is amazing to be able to stim for an hour without any issues at all - a great advantage of the minimum revs being very low indeed, which means that resistance can be built up in sets, just as with weight training.
Customer service - extraordinarily well informed and helpful staff who answered all my questions promptly and were brilliant in helping me organize the logistics of moving the Motomed when i left the US to go back to the UK.
I also love the fact that i can use it with my armchair and adjust my ankle accordingly, this has been great for my hip flexors and has enabled me to exercise in the optimal position to avoid any strain.
I strongly recommend the Motomed not just to spinal and neural injuries, but also to anyone with weight issues too severe to allow them to exercise without pain - this is currently the best that i believe is available."

MOTOmed usage was an instrumental phase in assisting my 22 year old paraplegic son on his road to walking unassisted. It's easy to use and a great piece of equipment that worked perfectly every time.
The service personnel at Ri were extremely helpful and courteous throughout. I recommend it highly. Thanks for all your help! Your team should be proud of the product you provide, there's none better on the market, we're a testimonial to that.

We are using the device having purchased two we now have three about 4-5 years ago. We love them here for SCI, stroke and they are good for geriatric also. IT can be used for ROM as well as PRE for general strengthening. We even issue for home use through prosthetics for SCI and other neuro type problems. Doug Tuttle VAMC West Palm Beach

Mr. M is 24 years old and has Cerebral Palsy, which is a movement disorder involving all extremities. It has always been a challenge to find activities that Mr. M could do that would keep him physically fit. It was during one of his physical therapy sessions that we saw Mr. M on a MOTOmed.
He was very excited to show us how it worked. We, too, were excited because he had finally found an exercise that he enjoyed and one which gave him a good physical work out. We knew that Mr. M’s insurance would never pay for this type on equipment, so he didn't get his hopes up.
It was during the Christmas holiday season that we found out that his Physical Therapist had submitted his name to the Season of Sharing to purchase a new MOTOmed.
Mr. M was featured in the Oregonian newspaper and the donations poured in from the readers. He was one of several individuals that were featured in the Season of Sharing section of the paper.
Mr. M’s MOTOmed arrived in January and he loves it!

I wanted to take this time to share with you how much the patients at our facility have benefitted from their use of the MOTOmed Viva2. We purchased this equipment about a year ago and placed it in one of our gyms on our SCI floor. It has turned out to be one of the most popular and well-used pieces of equipment in that gym, such that staff from our Stroke/TBI floor asked for a unit to be placed in their gym as well. Our 2nd MOTOmed Viva2 is currently in the process of being shipped to us.
Feedback from my staff (PTs/OTs) has been consistently positive. They report that it motivates lower level SCI patients ... they can use it at an early stage to show patients that they can still use their arms. As they get stronger, it gives them a great workout which they enjoy and need. Others describes it as being "great for biofeedback", using the sYlllmetrical setting so patients can see how much they are doing and which side they are using more. It also helps with motivation for them to see how much they are pushing, how far they are "cycling". The PROM feature also helps with stiffness; by grading the speed patients feel more "active." My staff also report the MOTOmed increases cardio endurance, lower extremity strength and upper extremity strength .. . it decreases spasticity and patients "love it."
In summary, both my staff and our patients love to use the MOTOmed. It's a really good cardio workout for the patients that can be graded to their level of strength and endurance. The passive ROM feature allows them to continue with the movement even if they are too tired to push on their own, then they can start up again after they're "rested." It is also great that it goes in both directions. Patients love being able to use their arms 01' legs.
Thank you so much for producing such a wonderful product for our patients.

MOTOmed
I am 70 years of age and have MS which mainly affects my lower extremeties. I have been unable to walk for the last 10 years. I have been in and out of rehab facilities the past eight years to build up and maintain muscle tone and use of my legs so I can maintain an independent lifestyle. Last summer when I was in rehab I was introduced to the MOTOmed. It was great to position my power chair in front of it and pedal away, giving my legs a good workout and being able to select my own speed and resistance level. This was certainly superior to sitting in my chair and doing limited leg exercises . The passive mode feature is good for range of motion.
My MOTOmed is strategically located adjacent to a TV and CD player so I can pedal while I watch or listen. I try to pedal at least a mile at a time at least 4 or 5 times a day. The time goes by quickly and the exercise surpasses what one can do just seated in chair. I have had my machine since 11/08 and have been able to maintain my strength to come from sit-to-stand and pivot which is necessary for toileting needs.
My legs feel renewed after workout and I can certainly notice a marked difference in my efforts to stand after a workout. It is easier and smoother. I am extremely satisfied with my purchase. I could cite other accolades but, hey, I've got to go pedal it's time for one of my favorite TV programs.

Kudos to Zack!
To Whom It May Concern:
I just wanted to send a brief update. Zack Rohrer (our local MOTOmed rep) responded to my email within a few hours and arranged to be at our facility the next day. I just wanted to note that Zack’s response was timely and professional, and he helped ensure our belief that MOTOmed not only offers a good product, but expert product support as well. .
Thank you.

MOTOmed
I was diagnosed ten years ago with Multiple Sclerosis. I suddenly had a tremendous deterioration in my condition this past year. The relapse left me unable to stand or walk, and with limited range of motion in my right arm.
During a stay at Burke Rehabilitation Hospital I discovered the MOTOmed Viva 2, which I have been using daily for the past six months. At first I lacked the strength to pedal myself so the motor in the MOTOmed did the work for me. My strength has grown steadily and consistently. For the past five months I have been using the ServoCycling feature which allows me to do the work of pedaling myself.
At this point my legs are very strong. I can stand easily, and have the muscle strength to be able to walk. The display features on the MOTOmed allow me to vary the intensity of the resistance with just the touch of a finger. After working my leg muscles each day, I rotate the top of the unit and use the arm bike feature. This has improved the range of motion in my right arm.
MOTOmed gives me the opportunity to stay strong and get an aerobic workout at the same time. When I was in the hospital I sat in a wheelchair to use the MOTOmed. At home I can sit in a living room chair and watch television or play with my children while I get my therapy done. There is no struggling to climb onto a traditional exercise bike.
The MOTOmed has truly changed my life, and I wanted to share that with you.

"I absolutely love my MOTOmed - I use it everday!
Not only is it a terrific asset in assisting in my strength development, it is also cost effective since home physical therapy can easily cost tens of thousands of dollars."

The lead therapist and I arranged a side-by-side trail of the the MOTOmed Viva 2 and the Omnicycle at the rehab facility, where my fiancée is battling to overcome spinal cord injury. One kick of the tires and I could tell that the MOTOmed put the word, Durable, in the phrase, Durable Medical Equipment. And the test trials my fiancée took proved it! It just feels like German engineering at its finest and we chose it over the Omnicycle, no contest! Within one week my fiancée noticed significant improvement in her strength and motor function, so much so that we have since purchased the FES version of the MOTOmed.
If you or a loved one have suffered a spinal cord injury, you can't afford not to own a MOTOmed! Mr. S
